About Requirement Heroes

Research shows lack of stakeholder engagement, poor communication among stakeholders and incomplete requirements as common requirement management mistakes.

When I started my career as a business analyst , I made a lot of mistakes and learnt things the hard way. I lacked clarity on what is the larger outcome expected out of a business analyst in the whole process of software development. I unlearnt lot of habits in the process of gaining proficiency and it was hard work and a very humbling experience. This book creates awareness about the softer nuances of requirement management process , which will add new dimensions

Today , when I coach and mentor BAs, POs or PMs on requirements management , I noticed a pattern. Though the tools and techniques are learnt well over a short period of time, there is a grey area in managing the overall effectiveness of requirements. There is also challenges around how much value can be created and what is the optimum level of value that can be created.

Value can be defined as the ability to start with ambiguity and go on to drive conversations and interactions with systems and people , then later create clarity by constructing meaningful requirements.

I realised people management is key to requirements management process with aspects like conflict management, negotiation and influencing skills as top skills to possess.

Since the ownership of converting stakeholder interactions into meaningful requirements is with the requirements management professional . Everyone will look upto you ,which means you have to take on a leadership role.

This book talks about requirements journey and discusses key aspects of requirement management.I explain how to build domain knowledge for better conversations . The book covers the need to listen better and tips to identify gold in the conversations.I also cover anatomy of a requirement to give clarity on what a requirement is all about. It’s written in an easy language, with a lot of visual representation and takeaways for stickiness on concepts.

What you will find in the book is not what you already know , but new perspectives on requirements and how you can imbibe some of these values into your daily work for a wholesome experience while working with requirements

This book has been written keeping in mind business as well as technology stakeholders who work together to create solutions to solve end customer problem at the end of the day.
